Mogadishu (SONNA) — The Minister of Communications and Technology of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mohamed Aden Moallim (Soomaali), has officially signed all agreements and amendments adopted at the 28th Universal Postal Union (UPU) Congress held in Dubai.
The move affirms Somalia’s full commitment to implementing international postal conventions, in line with the government’s strategy to modernize postal and courier services, boost trade, expand e-commerce, and contribute to national economic growth.
The agreements signed by Minister Soomaali include provisions for Somalia to:
- Take an active role within the global postal community.
- Align domestic postal services with international standards.
- Accelerate national plans for digital transformation and social connectivity.
The Ministry noted that this milestone reflects both a diplomatic and technical achievement for Somalia, showcasing the country’s leadership and active participation in shaping global postal sector reforms.
