Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, presided over the official handover ceremony of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) leadership, as outgoing Director Mr. Abdullahi Mohamed Ali Sanbaloolshe transferred responsibilities to his successor, Mr. Mahad Mohamed Salad.
The ceremony, held at NISA headquarters in Mogadishu, was attended by senior government and security officials including the Minister of Internal Security, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag; the Governor of Banadir and Mayor of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein Muungaab; the Commander of the Somali Police Force, General Asad Abdullahi Osman; and other officials from the national security sector.
President Hassan Sheikh commended Mr. Sanbaloolshe for his service and contributions to national security, particularly in the fight against terrorism. He reaffirmed the government’s continued commitment to safeguarding the country and confronting threats posed by extremist groups.
The President called on the new NISA Director, Mr. Mahad Mohamed Salad, to build on the agency’s progress by intensifying counter-terrorism operations, enhancing inter-agency cooperation, and strengthening public trust in NISA to help thwart the threats of terrorism.
The transition marks a reaffirmation of the government’s resolve to reinforce national security leadership and ensure the continuity of efforts to protect Somalia’s stability and the safety of its citizens.
