Mogadishu, Somalia – SONNA: The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hon. Yusuf Mohamed Adan, today held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Labor and Skills of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Ms. Muferihat Kamil Ahmed. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Africa Innovation Summit, focusing on enhancing collaboration between the two nations in key labor and employment areas.
During their discussions, the two Ministers emphasized the importance of regional cooperation in job creation, skills development, and labor market improvements in the Horn of Africa. Recognizing the shared challenges and opportunities in their labor sectors, they agreed to initiate joint programs aimed at strengthening workforce mobility and professional training.
Among the agreed initiatives are study tours, vocational skills training programs, and the implementation of a digital system to unify labor market data between the two countries. These measures aim to streamline employment opportunities and create a more structured labor framework in the region.
The meeting concluded with both sides committing to the establishment of a technical committee to oversee ongoing cooperation efforts. The Ministers reaffirmed their dedication to advancing labor initiatives based on mutual respect, development, and the spirit of regional partnership.
