Mogadishu(SONNA)-Aboorey, a small village about 20 kilometers northeast of Bula-burte town in Hiiraan region, turned into a graveyard for the terrorist militant group of Al-Shabaab after fierce fighting between Somali National Army and local forces, Macawislay in and around the neighbourhood in the past six days consecutively.

Somali National News Agency citing both military officials and Macawislay fighters confirmed that the militants suffered heavy casualties, lost dozens of its fighters in the battlefield while there are a few militants still trapped at the outskirts of Aboorey, trying to escape or die there.

The joint forces are receiving mass support from communities in Bula-burte, Moqokori, Jalalaksi, Tardo, Mahas and Beledweyne, bringing ripe fruits, water and cooked food and milk, in order, to encourage SNA and local forces fighting with Al-Shabaab.

Video footages from the front-lines, in particular, Abooreey showed women carrying jerry-cans of water and giving them to the forces at the battlefield while others seen being armed with AK47 rifles, saying that they stand side by side with the men offensive war against Al-Shabaab.

“We managed to counter the terrorists, Al-Shabaab who attempted to capture Abooreey, we killed dozens of them including foreigners in the past days. The group’s claims over the area and nearby are baseless propaganda”, said, an officer from Macawisley fighting along with SNA in the area.

The uprising of the local forces, Macawisley against Al-Shabaab began from eastern parts of Hiiraan region in central Somalia in June, 2022, leading immediate and successful liberation after the group militants carried atrocities there. “The Group’s attempt to Aboorey is both a graveyard for the terrorists, Al-Shabaab and their area of existence throughout the country”, Community.
