Somali Forces Eliminate Khawarij Militants in Major Lower Juba Operation

Qabri Sharif, Lower Juba (SONNA) – The Somali National Army (SNA) and Jubbaland regional forces scored a major victory against Khawarij (al-Shabaab) militants in the Lower Juba region on Thursday. The coordinated offensive targeted the group’s hideouts in the Qabri Sharif area, resulting in heavy militant casualties and the destruction of their bases.

Military officials confirmed that the operation was meticulously planned to dismantle Khawarij strongholds and disrupt imminent attack plans. “We successfully raided the terrorists’ hideouts, eliminated a significant number of fighters, and thwarted their planned operations,” said a senior officer overseeing the mission.

The SNA and Jubbaland forces have intensified operations against the Khawarij in recent days, aiming to degrade the militants’ capabilities in southern Somalia. Today’s strike marks another setback for the extremist group, which has faced sustained military pressure from government troops and allied forces.

Authorities have not yet released exact casualty figures but emphasized that the offensive significantly weakened the militants’ presence in the region. Security operations are expected to continue as Somali forces push to fully liberate remaining Khawarij-held territories.
