Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Ahmed Hassan Aden, welcomed a delegation from Turkey in Mogadishu, aiming to explore investment opportunities in the fisheries sector and marine resources. This visit is part of implementing a defense and economic cooperation agreement signed between Somalia and Turkey, aimed at enhancing the utilization of marine resources.
Somalia’s waters are recognized as among the most resource-rich in the western Indian Ocean, and with proper investment, the country could emerge as a leading player in global fish production.
Following a recent overhaul of the country’s fishing laws and regulations, aimed at facilitating investments in marine resources, many stakeholders, led by the Turkish government, are showing readiness to invest in Somalia’s fishing industry.
