Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Hamza Abdi Barre, attended a ceremony marking the completion of training for units of the Gorgor Commando Brigade, a specialized force within the Somali National Army. During the event, the Prime Minister emphasized the critical role these troops will play in defending the nation’s land, air, and maritime borders against threats.

The ceremony showcased demonstrations of advanced combat skills and tactical expertise by the newly trained commandos, highlighting their preparedness to take on a pivotal role in the ongoing fight against extremist groups. Prime Minister Hamza commended the troops for their dedication and professionalism, stating that their training reflects the progress and modernization of Somalia’s armed forces.

“The Gorgor Commando Brigade is a highly capable force that will serve as the backbone of the Somali National Army in the fight against our enemies. You are a force of honor, discipline, and bravery, and the Somali people expect you to fulfill the oath you have taken today by serving your nation with pride and dedication,” said Prime Minister Hamza.

The Prime Minister also expressed gratitude to the Turkish government for its support in training and equipping the Gorgor Commandos, noting that the partnership has significantly enhanced the skills and capabilities of Somali forces. He reiterated the Somali government’s commitment to strengthening the training, equipment, and overall readiness of its military to ensure national security and stability.

The event underscored Somalia’s determination to build a robust and professional military capable of safeguarding the country’s sovereignty and combating extremist threats.
