Nairobi, SONNA – The Somali Ambassador to Kenya, Amb Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, celebrated Eid with the Somali community living in the Eisleigh neighborhood of Nairobi today, a place known for its significant Somali population. The Eid celebration took place at the BBS Mall’s main center, attended by thousands from the Somali community in Kenya, where a grand event was held to mark the day of Eid al-Fitr.
Ambassador Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle, in his speech after the salad at the event, extended Eid greetings to the Somali people, emphasizing that Eid is a day of unity and joy shared among all Muslims. He also encouraged Somalis living in Kenya to maintain their unity, cooperation, and to work together towards the progress of their community and Somalia at large. “Today is a day of happiness, a day we all share in the festivities and joy of Eid. We must remember our brothers and sisters who are not fortunate enough to celebrate with us today, those who are in difficult situations,”
Ambassador Jabril stated, adding that it’s important to support and help each other.The Eid celebration also featured speeches from members of the Somali community in Kenya, all of whom highlighted the importance of strengthening the ties between Somalis in Kenya and those in Somalia, to enhance cooperation and development.
The event comes at a time when Somalia and Kenya are both working to improve their diplomatic relations, following recent meetings between the leaders of the two countries discussing security, trade, and development cooperation.
Finally, Ambassador Jabril Ibrahim Abdulle urged the Somalis in Kenya to continue their efforts to be good citizens and role models for other communities in the country, noting that this contributes to building the reputation and recognition of the Somali people internationally.
