Somali Business Community Refuse to Comply with Demands from Khawarij over paying Extortion

In recent years, the Somali Business Community has been targeted by the al Shabaab terrorist group for extortion money. However, in a recent development, the community has refused to comply with the group’s requests, sending a strong message that businesses in the region will no longer be intimidated by terrorist organizations.

Recently, al Shabaab has faced financial setbacks, with over 250 of its bank accounts being frozen in an effort to cut off its access to funds. In response, the group has intensified its efforts to extort money from businesses, seeking fresh sets of extortion money from the Somali Business Community.

Despite the group’s threats, the Somali Business Community has refused to comply with the demands for fresh extortion money. This move is significant, as it sends a message that businesses in the region are no longer willing to be coerced into providing financial support to terrorist groups. The refusal of the community to provide funds to al Shabaab could have a significant impact on the group’s operations, potentially hastening its demise.

In addition to the Somali Business Community’s refusal to comply with al Shabab’s requests for extortion money, it has also been reported that the group has lost its collection centres in recent military operations. As a result, al Shabaab has been forced to seek new ways to collect funds from businesses in Somalia, leading to the demand for fresh extortion money.

The demand for fresh extortion money has been made even more concerning by al Shabaab’s request that the businesses deliver the money physically in undisclosed areas. This move is seen as an effort to avoid detection, and underscores the group’s fear of government operations.

The refusal of the Somali Business Community to comply with al Shabaab’s demands for extortion money, despite the group’s threats and efforts to avoid detection, is a significant development in the fight against terrorism in Somalia. It is hoped that this move will inspire other businesses in the region to also stand up against al Shabaab’s tactics, further limiting the group’s ability to operate in the region. The freezing of al Shabaab’s bank accounts, combined with the resistance of the Somali Business Community, is a significant blow to the group’s financial operations, and may contribute to the continued weakening of the group in the region.

It is important to note that the government’s has warned any financial contribution made by the Somali Business Community to al Shabaab will make them complicit in the killing and maiming of innocent lives. The group is responsible for countless acts of violence and terror, and any support provided to them will only further their destructive agenda.

In conclusion, the Somali Business Community’s refusal to comply with al Shabaab’s demands for extortion money is a significant development in the fight against terrorism in Somalia. It sends a message that businesses in the region will no longer be intimidated by terrorist groups, and may inspire other businesses to also resist the group’s extortion tactics. Furthermore, the financial setbacks faced by al Shabaab, including the freezing of its bank accounts and the loss of its collection centres, are significant blows to the group’s operations, and may contribute to its eventual demise.
