Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA): The 3rd edition of the Communication and Information System (CIS) Advisory Seminar, organized by the European Union Training Mission in Somalia (EUTM-S), was held at the EUTM-S Headquarters from January 13rd to 16th, 2025. The four-day seminar brings together 5 participants from the J6 branch of the Somali National Armed Forces (SNAF).
The seminar aims to share and discuss key aspects of the foundational principles of Communication and Information Systems (CIS), focusing on effectiveness and resilience. It covers doctrinal principles of the planning process, strategies for planning and conducting operations related to communications and transmissions, as well as specialized issues concerning the Somali CIS structure, organization, and cybersecurity.
In the opening session, the EUTM-S Advisor Team warmly welcomed the participants, highlighting the critical importance of maintaining a robust and efficient CIS system, essential for enabling Commanders to effectively execute the operational Command and Control (C2) functions.
The closing ceremony was led by Brigadier General Giuseppe Zizzari, the EUTM-S Mission Force Commander, who awarded certificates of participation to the attendees.
The EUTM-S Advisor Team, in compliance with its tasks of supporting the SNAF, carries out activities to support the definition of a reference organizational model for the CIS sector, the development of CIS structures, procedures and systems that allow Commanders to exercise command and control over subordinate units, as well as a culture of information management.
EUTM-S remains committed to enhancing the military capabilities of the Somali Security Forces to improve the nation’s overall security.
