MOGADISHO, SONNA – A delegation from the World Health Organization (WHO), led by Ms. Erna Van Goor, Head of Health Relations, paid a visit to the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) headquarters. The delegation’s purpose was to discuss and strengthen collaborative efforts in response to the losses incurred due to floods in various parts of the country.

Upon their arrival at SoDMA headquarters, the WHO delegation was warmly received by the Senior Adviser on Emergency Response and other SoDMA officials. The meeting focused on strategies to enhance the dissemination of information regarding the impact of floods on affected regions. The importance of regular communication with communities affected by floods and fostering a collective response to address the challenges posed by El Niño-induced floods were key points of discussion.

The collaborative efforts between the WHO delegation and SoDMA aim to improve the overall response mechanism, ensuring that affected communities receive timely and accurate information about the impact of rains and floods on the population.
