Dubai, (SONNA): The UAE government issued a press release on Thursday welcoming the Turkish-brokered agreement between Somalia and Ethiopia, which ended the dispute between the two countries.
“This important step will strengthen the relations between the two countries and contribute to stability and effective cooperation in the Horn of Africa,” the Gulf state’s foreign ministry said in a statement.
The statement reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to promoting peace and stability in the region, and stressed the importance of resolving disputes peacefully.
The statement praised Turkey’s efforts and the role of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in brokering the agreement, describing the talks as an important step in advancing regional and global affairs.
Recently, the leaders of Somalia and Ethiopia jointly issued a statement called the Ankara Declaration, reaffirming their mutual respect and commitment to preserving each other’s sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity, according to the Turkish Communications Directorate.
