Mogadishu (SONNA) — The newly appointed Commander of the Somali Custodial Corps, Brigadier General Mohamed Sheikh Hassan Xaamud, has officially assumed office in Mogadishu.
The ceremony took place at the Custodial Corps headquarters near the Central Prison, where the handover was conducted by Deputy Commander General Ilmi Wasuge Colow, who confirmed that he had formally transferred duties to the new commander.
The event was attended by senior officers from the Somali National Armed Forces, members of both houses of Parliament, officials from the Council of Ministers, including the State Minister of Justice, and other invited guests.
Following the handover, several speakers, including Members of Parliament and senior officials, welcomed the new commander and commended the outgoing leadership for their service.
In his remarks, Brigadier General Xaamud outlined his vision for the force, stressing the need for comprehensive reforms within the Somali Custodial Corps to strengthen its effectiveness and operational capacity.
