Mogadishu – The Speaker of the House of the People of the Federal Parliament of Somalia, Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe), on Monday held talks at his office with the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia, James Swan.
During the meeting, Mr. Swan briefed the Speaker on the activities of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Somalia, including its ongoing support to the Federal Government of Somalia and broader efforts to assist the country’s state-building and governance processes.
Speaker Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur thanked the UN envoy for the continued support provided to Somalia, particularly to government institutions. He also outlined the key priorities and ongoing work of the Federal Parliament, with a focus on the review and completion of the provisional constitution. The Speaker noted that the constitutional review process has made significant progress and is being actively pursued by both chambers of Parliament.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to further strengthen and sustain cooperation between the Federal Parliament of Somalia and the United Nations Office in Somalia.
