Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The National Security Adviser to the President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hussein Macalin, has opened the annual conference on arms and ammunition management, which this year’s discussion will be on the progress of the plan to lift the arms embargo on Somalia.
Mr. Hussein, who gave a speech at the opening of the conference, said that they are expecting the arms embargo will be lifted from Somalia this year, and the government has put in a lot of effort to meet the conditions.
“This meeting is aimed at the way to remove the arms embargo on Somalia, and we have brought together all the working agencies of the Federal Government and the member states of the country. We will analyze the tasks ahead of us, which are known as the targets the Somali government wants to achieve.
During the meeting, an annual action plan will be discussed and what has been done regarding the works agreed upon in the previous meeting held in the city of Mogadishu, in March 2022.
The meeting was attended by officials and others from the security agencies at the federal and regional levels and other guests of the government who help in security matters.
