MOGADISHU, SONNA – Somalia’s Minister of Youth and Sports, Mohamed Abdulqadir Ali, held a virtual meeting with the Executive Director of the United Nations Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate (UNCTED), Ms. Natalia Gherman, to discuss strategies for preventing extremist ideologies.
During the meeting, the Minister highlighted the significant impact of extremism on Somali youth and emphasized the Ministry’s commitment to tackling this issue. He expressed the Ministry’s readiness to strengthen collaboration with international organizations, including UNCTED, on initiatives aimed at countering terrorism and its root causes.
The discussion shines a light on the Somali government’s proactive efforts to address a critical national security challenge through international partnerships. The Ministry of Youth and Sports is taking a lead role in this, focusing on protecting young people from radicalization and building a more stable future for the country.
