Cairo, Egypt – The Minister of Health and Social Welfare of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Dr. Ali Haji Adam, today participated in the 72nd World Health Organization (WHO) Eastern Mediterranean Regional Conference, which officially opened in Cairo.
The annual high-level gathering brings together health ministers from WHO Eastern Mediterranean member states to discuss the region’s most pressing health challenges and explore opportunities to advance sustainable health development.
In his address, Dr. Ali Haji Adam underscored the growing challenges facing the region, particularly the impact of reduced health funding, which has strained the delivery of essential services. He called for strengthened consultation and cooperation among member countries to ensure the sustainability and resilience of health systems across the region.
“Collaborative engagement is key to addressing shared health challenges and ensuring that no nation is left behind in achieving universal health coverage,” the Minister emphasized.
Somalia continues to play an active role in promoting regional cooperation and aligning national health initiatives with international goals. Under the leadership of Dr. Ali Haaji Adam, the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare is enhancing efforts to improve health outcomes in line with global health priorities and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
