In a bid to bolster security and strengthen international relations, the Federal Government of Somalia’s cabinet convened for its weekly meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Bare. Security emerged as the predominant focus of the gathering, highlighting the government’s resolve to combat threats within its borders.

At the heart of this week’s discussions were comprehensive agreements reached between Somalia and Ethiopia. The cabinet approved these accords, which encompassed a range of collaborative efforts spanning foreign relations, health, education, communications, tourism, and the enhancement of government institutions. The move reflects the commitment of both nations to foster mutual growth and cooperation across various sectors.

The meeting was not solely confined to diplomatic matters. Reports from the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Internal Security were presented, outlining the significant strides made in liberating Somalia from the grip of Al-Shabaab militants. The progress reported on the military front was met with appreciation and applause from the cabinet members, underscoring the unwavering dedication of security agents to eradicating the menace posed by the extremist group.

In his closing remarks, Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Bare stressed the urgent need for national unity and solidarity to confront the ongoing challenge of terrorism. He emphasized that the fight against Al-Shabaab must remain a top priority, with a collective effort aimed at freeing the remaining areas under their control. The Prime Minister’s words resonated with a shared determination among cabinet members to forge ahead in the pursuit of peace and stability.
