Berlin, SONNA – The Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Gen. Bashir Mohamed Jama, paid a visit to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Somalia in Berlin during his trip to attend the Climate and Security Conference 2025.
During the visit, Minister Jama met with Somalia’s Ambassador to Germany, H Abdiaziz Mohamed, and commended the embassy staff for their exemplary work in advancing Somalia’s diplomatic engagement and strengthening bilateral relations between Somalia and Germany.
The discussions highlighted the importance of enhanced cooperation on climate and security, emphasizing joint efforts to address environmental challenges, promote resilience, and foster sustainable development.
Minister Bashir praised the embassy’s proactive role in supporting Somalia’s climate diplomacy and fostering partnerships that align with the government’s priorities under the National Climate and Environmental Policy Framework.
He also underscored that Somalia’s participation in global forums such as the Climate and Security Conference underscores the government’s commitment to climate action, environmental protection, and sustainable peacebuilding.
The visit reaffirmed the growing partnership between Somalia and Germany, particularly in areas of climate resilience, environmental management, and sustainable development — laying the foundation for a long-term strategic collaboration.
