Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Federal Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Mohamud Ahmed Aden Geesood, officially opened the National Export Promotion Expo in Mogadishu, bringing together entrepreneurs, small-scale industries, regional and national producers, and key economic stakeholders. The event showcased a wide range of locally produced goods, highlighting Somalia’s rich natural resources and export potential.
Among the products displayed were high-quality honey, seafood, Somali coffee, frankincense, fresh juices, herbal products, and various agricultural and livestock-based goods. Minister Geesood emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting Somali businesses in accessing international markets and urged compliance with national quality standards to ensure global competitiveness.
Speaking at the event, the Director of the Somali Bureau of Standards, Hawa Ahmed Hassan, reaffirmed the agency’s readiness to work closely with exporters and producers to certify products that meet international standards. The expo forms part of the government’s broader strategy to boost domestic production, strengthen the economy, and position Somali products in global trade.
