Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Macallin Fiqi, alongside the Chief of the Somali National Army, Major General Ibrahim Mohamed Mahmoud, the Commander of the Ground Forces, Major General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, and the Turkish Ambassador to Somalia, attended an event marking International Women’s Day and promoting female participation in the Somali National Army.
The ceremony emphasized the vital role of women in national defense, security, and military operations. Minister Fiqi reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to increasing female representation in security institutions, encouraging their leadership and capabilities to strengthen the National Army.
Speakers praised the courage and dedication of female soldiers, recognizing their significant contributions to safeguarding the nation and maintaining peace, while also highlighting international support for Somalia’s military development.
