The Minister of Labor and Social Affairs of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Prof. Salim Aliyow Ibro, has held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Family and Social Services of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, aimed at enhancing cooperation in key social sectors.

The meeting, which was attended by senior officials from both ministries as well as the Ambassador of Somalia to Türkiye, focused on strengthening bilateral collaboration in the areas of social assistance, family development, and the delivery of social services.

Both sides also exchanged views on practical ways to deepen cooperation between social institutions in Somalia and Türkiye, with a view to improving service delivery, institutional capacity, and policy coordination.

The discussions concluded with an agreement to establish a joint technical team tasked with preparing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two ministries. The MoU is expected to accelerate joint programs aimed at strengthening capacity building within social institutions.

Minister Prof. Salim Aliyow Ibro expressed his appreciation to the government and people of Türkiye for their continued support and longstanding brotherhood with the people and government of Somalia, reaffirming Somalia’s commitment to further deepening bilateral relations in the social sector.

The meeting reflects the strong and enduring partnership between Somalia and Türkiye, particularly in advancing social development and institutional strengthening.
