Mogadishu, SONNA – In a landmark meeting at the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs headquarters, Somali Minister Hassan Ma’allin Mohamud and Turkish Deputy Minister of Justice Mr. Niyazi Acar led discussions to deepen the justice cooperation between Somalia and Turkey.
The high-level talks addressed various challenges and laid out a comprehensive agenda to enhance the justice systems of both nations. The key points of the agenda included:
- Construction of Justice Infrastructure: Initiatives to build robust legal facilities that meet international standards.
- Development of Criminal Investigation: Modernizing investigative procedures to ensure they are comprehensive and align with contemporary knowledge.
- Establishment of Somali Justice Academy: Creating an institution dedicated to the education and training of legal professionals in Somalia.
- Revision of Legal Rules and Regulations: Updating and harmonizing the country’s laws with the constitution and federal system to reflect modern principles.
- Advancement of Knowledge and Technology: Investing in the technical and technological capabilities of the justice sector to better serve the Somali community.
Both parties recognized the critical role of justice services in governance and the well-being of citizens. The agreed-upon initiatives are expected to significantly contribute to the rule of law and reinforce the bilateral ties between Somalia and Turkey.
