Mogadishu, (SONNA): Egypt and Somalia have initiated discussions on cooperation in urban development. The meeting, held in Cairo, saw Engineer Sherif El-Sherbiny, Egypt’s Minister of Public Works & Housing, warmly welcoming Mr. Said Mohamed Mohamud, Somalia’s Minister of State for Public Works and Housing.
Engineer El-Sherbiny emphasized Egypt’s readiness to share its extensive expertise in urban development, under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. “Egypt possesses the necessary skills and resources for construction and development. We are eager to engage in quality projects that will support Somalia’s growth,” he stated.
Minister Said expressed gratitude for the warm reception and highlighted Somalia’s keen interest in bolstering cooperation with Egypt. He noted that such collaborations are crucial for Somalia’s development agenda.
In a forward-looking gesture, Engineer El-Sherbiny invited the Somali government to participate in the upcoming World Urban Forum. This platform, dedicated to international cooperation in urban development, would provide Somalia with opportunities to engage with leading construction companies and experts from around the globe.
The discussions mark a promising step towards a stronger partnership between Egypt and Somalia, aiming to foster sustainable urban development and mutual growth.
