ALGIERS, Algeria – The Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Algeria, H.E. Yusuf Ahmed Hassan, held a high-level diplomatic meeting with the leadership of the Council of the Nation (Senate) of Algeria this week. The discussions, held at the Senate headquarters, focused on bolstering parliamentary diplomacy and fostering closer legislative ties between the two brotherly nations.
The primary agenda of the meeting was the establishment of a strategic friendship committee dedicated to the upper houses of African parliaments. Specifically, the officials explored the framework for creating a bilateral friendship committee designed to advance the mutual interests and cooperative goals of the Somali and Algerian Senates.
During the session, the President of the Algerian Senate delivered remarks emphasizing the historical relationship between the two countries. He was joined by the Algerian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs in charge of African Affairs, who highlighted the importance of inter-parliamentary coordination in addressing continental challenges.
