ANTALYA, TURKEY – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Mr. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is among the leaders attending the Diplomatic Forum in Antalya, Turkey.

The president and his delegation arrived in Antalya on Tuesday night and were received by Turkish officials and diplomats.

The Diplomatic Forum is a platform for dialogue and cooperation among political leaders, diplomats, think tanks, and civil society from around the world. The forum aims to address the current and future challenges of the international system and to explore the opportunities for cooperation and partnership.

President Hassan Sheikh is expected to have bilateral meetings with the Turkish President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdogan, and other leaders during his stay in Antalya. The president will also deliver a speech at the forum and share his views on the regional and global issues affecting Somalia and Africa.

The president’s visit to Turkey comes after his participation in the 6th round of the United Nations conference on climate change in Nairobi, Kenya, where he called for more action and support to mitigate the effects of climate change on vulnerable countries like Somalia.

Turkey and Somalia have a close and strategic partnership that covers various areas of cooperation, including security, development, trade, education, and humanitarian assistance. Turkey has been one of the main supporters of Somalia’s reconstruction and stabilization efforts since 2011.
