Mogadishu (SONNA) – The House of the People of the Federal Republic of Somalia convened its 15th session of the week at the parliamentary headquarters, chaired by the Speaker, H.E. Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe). A total of 140 Members of Parliament were in attendance.

The session centered on the second reading of the Agreement Establishing the East African Standby Force, prepared by the Ministry of Defense. The agreement, which had already completed its first reading, was jointly reviewed by the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Committee and the Defense Committee.

During the deliberations, Members of Parliament examined key provisions of the agreement and questioned the State Minister of Defense on its relevance and strategic importance to Somalia’s security and regional cooperation efforts.

Closing the session, Speaker Sheikh Aden Mohamed Nur (Madoobe) directed the responsible committees to finalize preparations for the third reading, allowing the agreement to be presented again for debate and voting.

In the final segment of the day, the House of Representatives was divided into two parts to proceed with the second reading of the Medicine Bill, marking continued legislative progress across multiple sectors.
