Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA) – In a compassionate response to the needs of the vulnerable, the Somali National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has successfully carried out a large-scale aid distribution initiative. The operation reached out to a total of 5,000 individuals who are among the poor, disabled, and displaced communities in the Lower Shabelle region, particularly within the Afgooye district and the outskirts of Mogadishu.
The aid distribution was organized in two phases: initially, 2,000 families received assistance in the Afgooye district, followed by an additional 3,000 families who were provided for in the suburbs of Mogadishu. This substantial effort underscores the agency’s commitment to supporting those in dire need across different localities.
The distribution event was marked by the presence of Sahra Ali Yusuf, the director of the aid department, alongside officials from the Afgoye District Administration and other dignitaries. Their participation highlighted the collaborative effort and dedication involved in bringing relief to the affected populations.
SoDMA’s proactive approach in addressing the hardships faced by the disadvantaged is a testament to the ongoing efforts to foster resilience and hope within the community. The agency continues to stand as a pillar of support, working tirelessly to mitigate the impact of disasters and improve the lives of many.
