Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali National Army with the help of the local forces and International Partners killed over 200 Al-Shabaab terrorists at Iji area about 23 km to Mahaday district in the Middle Shabelle region on Thursday.
The Deputy Minister of Information of Somalia, Abdirahman Yusuf Sheik Adala told Somali National News Agency SONNA that the militants killed in the fight included four commanders and arrested some captives with injuries during the operation so far.
He said that the joint forces recovered 300 weapons and medicine and foodstuff.
The Minister also said the Somali National Army pursued operations in Hiiraan in Hirshabelle State, Mudug In Galmudug State and lower Jubba region in Jubaland State.
He added that 5 members of the SNA soldiers martyred and 7 others sustained injuries during the operation.
