Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Somali National Armed Forces have conducted a series of planned operations across parts of the Bakool and Bay regions, successfully eliminating several Al-Shabaab commanders and militants.
In a precision operation carried out last night in Abal village, approximately 21 km south of Xudur in the Bakool region, the forces neutralised a senior Al-Shabaab leader identified as Mohamed Abdi Mohamed Nur (Goofoow). The terrorist was serving as the Amir of the Abal base unit and was the mastermind behind several attacks that targeted civilians in the region. During the operation, the forces also seized weapons and documents detailing plots intended to disrupt security and stability in the area.
In a separate operation in Waro Mintaaniya village, located 14 km southeast of Burjeet in the Bay region, the Somali forces killed two key Al-Shabaab operatives, identified as Yahye (Abu Khalid), a key organiser of terrorist attacks, and Sharif (Amir), who later succumbed to severe injuries sustained during the engagement.
The Ministry of Defence commends the bravery and sacrifice of the Somali National Armed Forces, who continue to serve with dedication to ensure peace and stability across the country.
The Ministry reaffirms that no safe haven will be allowed for Al-Shabaab terrorists or their remnants, and that ongoing operations to stabilise the country will be intensified until every corner of Somalia is freed from the threat of terrorism
