El-Barwaqo, Somalia (SONNA) – The Somali National Army (SNA), led by Danab commandos, has destroyed a Khawarij (al-Shabaab) stronghold in El-Barwaqo, located in the Masjid Ali Gudud district of the Middle Shabelle region.
The operation, confirmed by Major General Deeq Yusuf Sareeye, successfully neutralized militants who had been using the area as a base. The SNA’s targeted offensive is part of an intensified campaign to dismantle Khawarij insurgents, who continue to threaten Somalia’s stability and development.
“Our brave forces have crushed the Khawarij in El-Barwaqo, dealing a major blow to their operations in the region,” said Maj. Gen. Sareeye, who led the mission.
This latest strike follows a surge in military operations across Somalia as government troops, backed by local and international partners, escalate efforts to eliminate extremist threats and restore peace.
Authorities report that the area is now under full SNA control, with no civilian casualties recorded. The Somali government has vowed to continue operations until all militant-held territories are liberated.
