Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Minister of Internal Security of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abdullahi Sheikh Ismail Fartaag, today presided over the inauguration ceremony of the Somali Maritime Safety and Rescue Center in Mogadishu. The event was attended by senior government officials, military officers, and other distinguished dignitaries.
The newly established center aims to tackle various challenges off the coast of Somalia, such as illegal fishing, piracy, and the rescue of individuals stranded in maritime emergencies.
In his address, Minister Fartaag emphasized the center’s critical role in bolstering security and rescue operations. He called on relevant agencies to collaborate closely to enhance maritime security and safeguard the lives of Somali citizens.
The ceremony also featured presentations on plans to improve safety operations and address issues in the Somali sea through partnerships with local and international organizations.
