Mogadishu, Somalia – The Federal Government of Somalia is intensifying its stabilization and communication efforts, with a recent high-level meeting of the Technical Committee for Stabilization Affairs held at the Ministry of Interior headquarters. The meeting was chaired by the Minister of Interior, Federal Affairs, and Reconciliation, MP Ali Yusuf Ali-Hosh.
The session focused on several critical points, including strengthening the coordination of stabilization initiatives and unifying messaging in the ongoing fight against the Khawarij. The discussion particularly highlighted the needs and priorities of areas that have been recently liberated from the group.
During the meeting, the Chief Policy Advisor and the Stabilization Coordinator for the Ministry of Interior presented an overview of current stabilization efforts, key achievements, and existing challenges. This provided a crucial opportunity for government communication directors to align their public messaging and reinforce a unified front in support of Somalia’s broader stabilization agenda.
Committee members representing various federal ministries and agencies provided updates on their respective stabilization activities and discussed strategies for securing future funding for these operations. Minister Ali Yusuf Ali-Hosh praised their work and urged them to accelerate their coordination. He also underscored the importance of consistently promoting messages of liberation and recovery in newly freed areas to encourage progress and stability.
The Technical Committee, established in January 2024 under the leadership of the Ministry of Interior, has been instrumental in unifying the government’s communication strategy against Al-Shabaab. Its efforts have successfully disseminated government authority, with reports from liberated towns indicating that the public is supportive of the positive changes brought by the liberation and the government’s presence.
