Mogadishu(SONNA):The Federal Government of Somalia strongly condemns the brutal terrorist attack on Afrik Hotel in Mogadishu yesterday on Sunday 31st of January 2021.

So far, five people have been killed in the attack, among the victims Maj. General Muhammad Nur Galal.

According to the Somali police spokesman, three of the four assailants were killed while the fourth blew him up during the attack.

Somali National Army had successfully taken out all the militants inside the building and ended the terrorist attack.

The Federal Government extends its condolences to the families and relatives of the late General Mohamed Nur Galal, who was among the victims and other citizens.

During the incident, The government Security forces worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of citizens who were staying at the hotel when the bomber struck and armed militants entered the hotel.

Terrorist groups have become accustomed to harming civilians after government forces defeated them on the battlefield, capturing large swathes of territory, and most of their leaders were killed in planned airstrikes.
