Mogadishu, Somalia (SONNA) – The Minister of Defense of Somalia, Mr. Ahmed Ma’allin Fiqi, today held a significant meeting with the Chief of the Italian Defense Forces, General Luciano Portolano, and the Italian Ambassador to Somalia, Ambassador Pier Daccò Coppi.
The high-level discussion focused on strengthening the existing cooperation between Somalia and Italy in the vital field of defense. Key agenda points included improving the quality and training programs for the Somali National Army (SNA) and enhancing the continuous support provided by the Italian Government in the ongoing fight against terrorist groups.
General Portolano, who is on an official visit to Mogadishu, leads a high-level Italian military delegation. His presence alongside Ambassador Coppi underscores Italy’s commitment to bolstering Somalia’s security capabilities and contributing to regional stability.
This meeting signifies the ongoing dedication of both nations to collaborative efforts aimed at enhancing Somalia’s military strength and its capacity to counter security threats effectively.
