Mogadishu, (SONNA) – Units from the Somali Custodial Corps have arrived at the battlefront in the Middle Shabelle region, joining ongoing operations to eliminate Al-Shabaab militants entrenched in the area.
The Commander of the Somali National Army’s Ground Forces, General Sahal Abdullahi Omar, welcomed the newly deployed troops at the frontlines. The forces had departed from Mogadishu just a day earlier, with their arrival marking a significant boost to the ongoing offensive against the terrorist group.
Currently, Middle Shabelle is witnessing intense military operations that have severely weakened Al-Shabaab. Joint forces have inflicted heavy casualties on the group, including the elimination of key leaders, and destroyed critical military supplies belonging to the militants.
The coordinated offensive involves Somali National Army units, local forces, and international partners, employing both ground and air operations to root out the militants. The continued pressure has led to the targeted elimination of high-ranking insurgents and further degradation of their combat capabilities.
