Mogadishu, SONNA – The Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA) has received over 1,300 tons of food aid from the Chinese government in a significant gesture of international solidarity, The handover ceremony took place at the SoDMA warehouse, with Commissioner Mohamud Ma’allin Abdulle and Chinese Ambassador to Somalia, Wang Yu, in attendance.
This substantial aid package is aimed at alleviating the hardships faced by the Somali people, particularly in anticipation of the La Niña-induced drought. This is not the first instance of such generosity from China, which has consistently supported Somalia in times of need.
Commissioner Abdulle expressed profound gratitude to the Chinese government and its people, highlighting their unwavering support for Somalia’s sovereignty and well-being. “We deeply appreciate this assistance, which comes at a crucial time for our nation,” he stated.
Ambassador Wang Yu, speaking on behalf of the Chinese government, reiterated China’s commitment to aiding Somalia. “We are always ready to support our Somali brothers and sisters in their time of need,” he affirmed.
This latest aid delivery shows the strong bilateral relations between Somalia and China, and the ongoing commitment to humanitarian assistance and cooperation.
