The National Disaster Management Agency of Somalia (SoDMA) has sent a plane carrying 10 tons of light food to Baydhabo, the capital of the South West State, on Thursday. This is the third time that SoDMA has delivered aid to the city, which has been severely affected by the El-Niño floods.
According to SoDMA, the floods have caused casualties and property damage in Baydhabo, as well as displacing thousands of people from their homes. The agency said that it is committed to assisting and providing relief to the Somali people who are suffering from the floods and droughts of the rivers.
The aid delivery was welcomed by the local authorities and the residents of Baydhabo, who expressed their gratitude to SoDMA and the federal government for their support. They also appealed for more assistance from the international community and humanitarian organizations to cope with the crisis.
