Mogadishu, Somalia – The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Authority (SODMA), Mr. Mohamud Ma’allin Abdulle, engaged in a productive meeting with the head of the USAID Office in Somalia, Ms. Catie Lott, alongside members of the USAID team in Mogadishu.
The high-level meeting focused on enhancing aid efforts, monitoring donations, and bolstering the capacity of government agencies. Key discussions revolved around strengthening SODMA’s development activities and investing in resilience projects. Notably, the dialogue emphasized the creation of small grants aimed at vulnerable populations to prevent them from slipping into poverty.
Additionally, the meeting highlighted the importance of the Somali government directly receiving donations from abroad and fostering collaboration to build the capacity of various government agencies to address existing gaps.
Commissioner Mohamud Ma’allin Abdulle expressed profound gratitude to the United States Government for its support, particularly through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). He acknowledged the critical role of USAID in facilitating aid and development efforts in Somalia.
