Bariire, (SONNA) – The Somali National Army (SNA), which recently liberated the town of Bariire, has presented to the media a senior commander and fighters from the al-Shabaab terrorist group captured during the operation.
Zakariye Qaasim Bagax, a reporter on the ground in Bariire, interviewed two of the detainees. The first, described as one of the group’s most ruthless commanders, was found chained to a large tree, reportedly prepared to fight to the death. However, SNA forces captured him alive. The second, apprehended while wounded, was identified as a cunning militant leader who admitted that the fighters under his command—killed during the battle—had been brought in as reinforcements from Jilib in Middle Juba region.
The Somali National Broadcaster will air in-depth interviews with these detainees in the coming hours, offering further insight into the group’s operations and leadership.
