Barawe, (SONNA) — The African Union Supported and Stabilization Mission in Somalia’s (AUSSOM) Sector 1 troops, alongside the Somali National Army (SNA), conducted a joint patrol in Barawe sub-sector to maintain peace, security, and stability.
Battle Group 45 Commander, Col. Justus Musenene, commended the joint forces’ efforts and emphasised that these patrols not only secure the area but also support capacity building of Somali security forces to take full responsibility of their country’s security.
The 66 Brigade Commander, Col. Liban Yusuf Garre, praised AUSSOM troops for their brotherhood and sacrifice, urging sustained commitment. The 145 Battalion Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Geoffrey Ochan, who served as the operation commander for the day, emphasised the importance of joint operations in countering security threats, commending troops for their professionalism.
The patrols aim to monitor potential terrorist threats, deter hostile activities, and strengthen overall security in Barawe sub-sector.
