Severe droughts and water shortages were reported from the Hiran region

Mogadishu (SONNA) – Severe droughts and water shortages are reported in many parts of the Hiran region, affecting people and their livestock.

Hirshabelle Vice President Yusuf Ahmed Hagar Dabaged called on the Federal Government and the international community to provide assistance to those affected by the drought.

“We call on the international community and the Federal Government to provide immediate assistance and water trucking for the most vulnerable people affected by the drought,” he said.

The vice president the of Hirshabelle administration said that it is a difficult time and the people the of Hiran region are very poor.

The lack of water the in Hiraan region has caused many people and their livestock to migrate to areas in Beledweyne town in search of pasture and water. There was also a decline in the Shabelle River, which exacerbated the situation.
