Mogadishu, SONNA – A new venture for fostering dialogue and reconciliation, Principles for Peace, was launched in Mogadishu on Wednesday, with Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre as the chief guest. The event was attended by representatives of local, regional and international organizations, research institutes, governments, private sector entities and other relevant networks, who are part of the Stakeholder Platform that supports the initiative.
Barre expressed his hope that Somalia would soon become a place for peace, dialogue, democracy and progress in his speech. He also expressed his gratitude to Principles for Peace for operating in Somalia. He remarked that they were born at a time when there was a lot of fear in the world, but they had chosen to work for peace and reconciliation. He added that their cooperation in Somalia would increase significantly.
Finally, Barre stated that the Federal Ministry of Internal Affairs was the leader of reconciliation issues, and that it was important to harmonize the ongoing peace activities in the country.
