MOGADISHU (SONNA) – The Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism, H.E. Da’uud Aweys Jaama, today presented a special gift to the Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre.
The gift was presented on behalf of the Committee for the Construction and Equipping of the Somalia Peace Museum in Arta, a project in which the Ministry of Information was an active participant.
Prior to the presentation, Minister Da’uud Aweys provided the Prime Minister with a comprehensive briefing on the stages of development for the Arta Peace Museum. He highlighted the museum’s official inauguration on October 30th, which was jointly officiated by H.E. President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud of Somalia and his counterpart, H.E. Ismail Omar Guelleh, President of the Republic of Djibouti.
The Minister specifically detailed the Ministry of Information’s significant role in equipping the museum and organizing the formal opening ceremony.
Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre praised the successful establishment of the historic Arta museum, noting that the vision to create a monument stemmed from the project’s inception. He specifically commended the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism for its crucial part in the successful equipping and launch of the museum.
The inauguration marked the 25th anniversary of the landmark Somali Peace Conference, which was hosted in Arta, Djibouti, in 2000.
In conclusion, Minister Da’uud Aweys Jaama formally handed over the gifts to Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre, which were designated by the museum’s construction and equipping committee. This committee was chaired by H.E. Yonis Ali Guedi, the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of the Republic of Djibouti.
