Mogadishu (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, attended the launch of Hajj services for 1447/2026 and the conclusion of last year’s Hajj (1446). He highlighted significant improvements in service efficiency, noting Somalia’s leading role among countries providing excellent care to pilgrims.

The Prime Minister acknowledged initial challenges during the service reforms, including resistance from some quarters, and praised the government’s firm decisions to overcome them.

He called on Somali scholars to guide pilgrims on Hajj rituals and routes in advance, ensuring proper fulfillment of religious duties. He also instructed the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs to allow only qualified scholars and medical personnel to assist pilgrims.

Prime Minister Hamza commended the Ministry for the achievements, emphasizing that these successes reflect Somalia’s progress in governance, public service, and sustainable development.
