Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, on Tuesday received the newly appointed UNICEF Representative to Somalia, Sandra Lattouf, at his office in Mogadishu.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Hamza briefed Ms. Lattouf on key achievements of the DanQaran Government, noting that Somalia has entered a new phase of state-building and institutional reform. He highlighted the National Transformation Plan 2025–2029 (NTP) as the country’s primary framework guiding national development priorities.
The Prime Minister expressed appreciation for UNICEF’s continued support in critical sectors, including education, healthcare, child nutrition, and the provision of clean water—particularly for vulnerable communities affected by prolonged droughts.
For her part, Ms. Lattouf reaffirmed UNICEF’s strong commitment to supporting the Federal Government of Somalia and strengthening cooperation with national institutions. She emphasized the agency’s focus on expanding access to essential services, especially child health and immunization, combating malnutrition, advancing education, and improving access to clean water and sanitation services across the country.
The meeting underscored the shared commitment of the Somali government and UNICEF to improving the well-being of children and vulnerable populations nationwide.
