Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre underscored the crucial role of the Somali diaspora in advancing the country’s development agenda. He called on overseas Somalis to strengthen their support for the national armed forces and actively participate in the electoral process aimed at restoring citizens’ fundamental democratic rights.
“The Somali diaspora is a cornerstone of Somalia’s Vision 2060, a roadmap focused on economic development, security, and institutional modernization,” said Prime Minister Hamza. “You are expected to champion national unity, which has often been at risk, and to remain connected with your homeland by contributing to state-building, democratic participation, and national defense.”
The Prime Minister made these remarks during a special event highlighting the contributions of the Somali diaspora to the government and security sector under the theme “Defense and Democracy.” He noted that the current administration, DanQaran, recognizes the indispensable role of the diaspora and is committed to deepening their engagement in Somalia’s future.
