Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E Hamza Abdi Barre chaired a high-level meeting focused on expediting the country’s electoral process, bringing together government officials and members of the National Electoral and Border Commission.
Prime Minister Barre underscored the importance of holding a one-person, one-vote election, emphasizing that returning power to the people and allowing them to elect their leaders is a constitutional right that Somali citizens have been deprived of for nearly 50 years.
He directed relevant ministries and agencies to closely collaborate with the electoral commission to ensure the successful conduct of the elections. Barre reaffirmed the government’s commitment to both organizing the elections and continuing efforts to liberate the country from extremist threats.
