Mogadishu, SONNA – President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud travelled to Adis Ababa to join other African Heads of State and Governments for the 37th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union, scheduled for 17-18 February 2024.
The significant gathering offers a platform for mutual discussion on critical issues facing the continent, including peace and security, economic integration, and climate change.
During the Summit, President Mohamud will hold side meetings with various heads of state and government and other heads of delegations to strengthen Somalia’s bilateral relationships, explore new partnerships, and discuss issues of bilateral and regional importance.
In his speech to the Assembly, the President will advocate for increased collaboration in combating security threats and push for initiatives that bolster economic growth, address the climate crisis and accelerate sustainable development across the continent
The President will also convey Somalia’s unwavering stance on the cardinal principle of respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, underscoring its commitment to continental unity, peace, and development.
The President will reiterate Somalia’s position that any agreements affecting its territorial integrity must respect international law and Somalia’s sovereignty.
