MOGADISHU, Somalia — The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, His Excellency Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, held a significant information-sharing and consultation meeting with the renowned Somali Qaari (Quran reciter) and scholar, Sheikh Abdirashid Sheikh Ali Sufi, who was paying an honorary visit to the National Presidency.
The extensive meeting between the president and the distinguished sheikh focused on the state of the nation. The two leaders exchanged views on strengthening the general situation of the country and enhancing public awareness on key issues. A primary topic was the vital role of religious scholars (Ulama) in the national peace-building process, the necessity of reinforcing national unity among the Somali people, and the collective responsibility to protect and uphold core religious values.
President Mohamud praised the indispensable position that Somali religious scholars hold within society. He specifically lauded their contributions to the nation, particularly in the dissemination of authentic religious knowledge, their critical role in the ideological fight against extremism, and their efforts in strengthening security and social harmony.
For his part, Sheikh Abdirashid Ali Sufi expressed his gratitude to President Mohamud for the warm and respectful reception at Villa Somalia. The sheikh concluded the visit by offering a heartfelt prayer for the continued progress, peace, and prosperity of the Somali people and their government.
